The Problem

This is a design problem
and a spiritual one

Your phone has trained your brain to reach for it in every gap — before breakfast, during bath time, after bedtime. It’s not just a character flaw. It’s a pattern the flesh runs on autopilot — and the pattern is winning.

You’ve tried putting it in a drawer. You’ve tried screen time apps. You’ve told yourself “starting Monday” more times than you can count. None of it stuck because none of it replaced what your brain was reaching for.

Here’s what the research says about parents and phones:

70
days per year

That’s how much time the average adult spends on their phone each year. Over two months — not working, not sleeping. Scrolling.

Reviews.org, 2024 annual report

47%
of parents say they’re on their phone too much

Not too much at work. Not too much on the weekend. Too much when their kids are right there in the room.

Pew Research Center, 2024

57%
say they’re addicted

More than half of adults say they spend too much time on their phone — and can’t stop on their own.

Reviews.org, 2024

1 in 3
parents regret the smartphone

About a third of parents wish they had waited longer before giving their child a phone. But the bigger question is: what about yours?

The Math

What is your phone actually costing your family?

Your daily phone screen time

Your Annual Cost

70
full days per year

That’s over 2 months — not working, not sleeping. Scrolling through things you won’t remember, while your family is in the next room.

Why Every Other Program Fails

They tell you to put the phone down. None of them tell you what to pick up instead. That’s the gap — and it’s why you keep going back.

Every Other Program
  • 01“Just stop scrolling” — No plan for what to do when boredom hits at 9 PM
  • 02Relies on willpower — Works for a week, then you’re back to old habits
  • 03Focuses on your kids — Ignores the fact that you’re on your phone just as much
  • 04Guilt without a plan — Makes you feel bad but gives you nothing to do about it
  • 05Leaves a hole — You remove the phone and get boredom. Then the phone wins again
  • 06No system for relapse — When the urge hits hard, you have zero backup plan
VS
Present Over Pixels
  • 0136 pre-decided options — Your Activity Lattice tells you exactly what to do instead
  • 02Works when the flesh is weak — Sorted by the moments your phone wins: morning, stress, boredom
  • 03Fixes the parent first — Because your kids copy what you do, not what you say
  • 04Rooted in daily prayer — Every morning starts with surrender. Every trigger gets a prayer. Every evening ends with thanks.
  • 05Replaces every trigger — Each moment you’d scroll now has a better option ready
  • 0612 weeks of formation — Not a quick fix. A system that changes who you are
The Missing Piece

They remove the phone.
We replace the habit.

Every other program takes away your phone and hopes for the best. You get bored. You go back. We don’t just help you stop scrolling — we tell you exactly what to do instead, even when the flesh is weak.

When you already know what to pick up, you don’t need an app to put it down.

The Story Behind This

Jose built this because he needed it first.

Jose is a father of four and a follower of Jesus Christ. A few years ago, he was averaging over six hours of daily screen time. He didn’t notice it — or rather, he noticed it the way you notice a slow leak. By the time it was obvious, the damage was already done.

The moment that broke it: his youngest asked him a question at the kitchen table — something small, something about school — and he answered without looking up from his phone. His wife said, quietly: “She was talking to you.”

That night he checked his screen time. 6 hours and 41 minutes. He did the math: 102 full days per year. Over three months of his life, every year, handed to a screen while his four kids were growing up in the next room.

He tried everything. App blockers. Digital detoxes. Grayscale mode. Cold turkey. Every method either lasted two days or treated the symptom without touching the cause. So he built his own system — led by faith, grounded in how the brain actually works. Not restriction, but replacement. Within 12 weeks, his screen time was under two hours. More importantly, his kids started running to the door when he got home again.

That system became Present Over Pixels. Jose poured months of late nights into building it — after his four kids were in bed, on weekends when he could have been resting. He sacrificed family time to build something that gives family time back.

When it was done, he wanted to give the whole thing away for free. But the research told him something he didn’t want to hear: when people get something for free, they don’t do the work. Completion rates collapse. People sign up, skim Day 1, and never come back. That’s the only reason the full program has a price — not because Jose cares about the money, but because he cares whether you actually finish.

The first two weeks are free. The 5-Day Challenge shows you the problem, and Transformation Week lets you practice the solution. The full program has a price because it only works if you show up every week.

“I didn’t need less screen time. I needed something in the way — between the trigger and the scroll.”

— Jose, founder of Present Over Pixels

Imagine a Tuesday night, five days from now. Dinner’s cleared. Your phone is on the counter — and for the first time in months, you know exactly how much time it’s been taking from you. Your kid is telling you something about a friend at school and you’re actually listening. Not waiting for them to finish. Not half-somewhere-else. Just… there. That’s what Day 5 feels like. And it starts with Day 1.

The 5-Day Rescue Challenge

Five days. Five tasks. Each one takes minutes. Together, they show you where the hours are going — and give you your first replacement.

Day 1
The Number

Check your actual screen time. Calculate how many full days per year it’s costing your family. Let that number land.

Day 2
The Armor

Get your 3 daily prayers ready — a Morning Surrender before you touch your phone, a Trigger Prayer for the moments you want to scroll, and an Evening Thank for what you noticed because you were present.

Day 3
The Plan

Use the Activity Lattice to pre-decide exactly what you’ll do instead of scrolling — for every trigger, every time of day. 36 replacements, locked and loaded.

Day 4
The Identity

Write your “Present Parent” statement — who you want to be when you put the phone down. Make it personal. Say it out loud.

Day 5
The Proof

Complete your Weekly Check-In, score how your week felt, and submit your proof to unlock your free Transformation Week.

Is This for You?

This challenge is for you if...

You’ve tried “just putting it down” and it didn’t stick past a weekend
You feel the gap between who you want to be as a parent and how you show up after 6pm
You’re tired of vague advice and want something specific to do this week
You believe your family deserves your full attention — and you want a plan to make that real

This is not for you if...

You’re looking for an app that blocks websites (that’s restriction, not replacement)
You’re happy with your current screen time — no judgment
You want someone else to fix this while you wait
Questions

Before you start

Is the challenge really free?+

Completely. No credit card, no trial that auto-charges. You get all 5 days plus the free Activity Lattice (36 replacement activities). Submit your proof at the end of Week 1 and you’ll activate your Transformation Week — a full second week, also free. Week 2 is your Final Free Phase. If it’s not for you, close the emails. Everything you received is yours to keep. Week 3 is the first paid week of the full program.

How much time does it take?+

Day 1 takes about 5 minutes — you check your screen time number and see what it’s really costing you. Days 2 through 5 range from 5 to 15 minutes each. The longest is Day 3, where you fill out your Activity Lattice — 36 replacement ideas for every trigger moment. Most parents finish in about 15 minutes. If you have time to scroll tonight, you have time for Day 1.

What’s the Activity Lattice?+

It’s a free tool with 36 trigger-replacement pairs, organized by when the urge hits — morning, commute, work, evening, stress, and weekends. For each trigger, you pre-decide what you’ll do instead. You’ll build yours on Day 3 — and it works together with the Trigger Prayer you set up on Day 2. The prayer is your power. The Lattice is your plan. It’s yours to keep whether you do anything else or not.

Is this faith-based?+

Yes. Jose built Present Over Pixels as a Christian father — the program is grounded in Scripture and the biblical framework of sanctification: putting off the old self, renewing the mind, and walking by the Spirit. On Day 2 you’ll set up three daily prayers — a Morning Surrender, a Trigger Prayer, and an Evening Thank — that become the spiritual backbone of every week. The practical tools work because they align with how God designed us. You don’t need a theology degree to follow the program, but the faith isn’t decoration — it’s the foundation.

Do I have to delete apps or go cold turkey?+

No. Day 1 doesn’t ask you to put your phone down at all. It asks you to look at your screen time number and see what it’s costing you. That’s it. This is not a digital detox — it’s the start of something that actually lasts.

Your kids won’t remember
your screen time.

They’ll remember whether you were there. Whether you looked up. Whether you heard them. The challenge is free. Day 1 takes five minutes. And the number it shows you might change everything.
